Gerbrich Greidanus
Born in 2000, Gerbrich’s musical journey started at the local brass band in Tzum, The Netherlands. After starting out on cornet, she found her passion for music when she switched to euphonium and discovered it’s unique role in the brass band.
She went on to study at the Prins Claus conservatoire in Groningen, where she was taught by tuba player Ane Travaille. During her studies, she received an honourable mention at the prestigious Grachtenfestival contest, and later performed the Linkola euphonium concerto with the conservatoire’s symphony orchestra. She graduated with honours in June of 2022.
That same year, Gerbrich won the euphonium audition at the Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy, a position she took up in 2023. In April of that year, she won the Fontys AMPA euphonium competition in Tilburg.
Gerbrich continued playing in brass bands through the years. Having played with Soli Brass for several years, she joined Brass Band Schoonhoven as their solo euphonium player in September 2023.
Currently, Gerbrich is studying at the Hochschule der Künste in Bern, where she is doing a Master in Music Performance with euphonium soloist Thomas Rüedi.
