Mathilde Roh

Cornet Player

Mathilde Roh, a talented Swiss cornet player began her playing career at the age of 8 with the Contheysanne d’Aven, her local village band.

By the age of 10, she had already enjoyed multiple successes at solo competitions at a regional and national level, often claiming the top spot on the podium. Among these notable achievements, in 2016 Mathilde was the first woman to win the Valais Soloist championships. She was also crowned Swiss Junior solo Champion three times in 2012, 2013, and 2014, as well as the overall Swiss National solo Champion in 2018, 2019, and 2021. In 2017, Mathilde added being the recipient of the Swiss Music Prize to her array of achievements.

At the age of 13, Mathilde joined the Formation B of Brass Band 13 Étoiles, and a year later, she joined Brass Band Constellation, led by her music teacher, Yvan Lagger. From 2012 to 2019, she was a member of the National Youth Brass Band of Switzerland, where she was principal cornet four times. In 2017, she progressed to the Formation A of Brass Band 13 Étoiles and was appointed to the role of principal cornet in 2020, a position she still holds today.

Alongside her musical career, Mathilde is a student of veterinary medicine.
